This past September, I attended the 2012 B Corporation Champions Retreat in Half Moon Bay. The trip was uplifting for many reasons,
and I left feeling fulfilled, not only because of the lessons I had learned,
but also because of the wonderful people I had met. Everybody at the retreat
represented companies that had one mission: to do the right thing socially and
environmentally, and to support and encourage others to do the same.
On the last day, I was fortunate to sit next to Anne
Laraway, the Director of Business Development at Happy Family (HAPPYBABY). Happy Family is an organic superfoods company, committed to
“making baby and toddler food as healthy and delicious as homemade with the
essential nutrients needed for optimal growth and development.” Anne and I were
able to share many meaningful conversations, especially as representatives of
two companies that are working to make an impact in the lives of children. After hearing Anne’s vision for the future of Happy Family,
I knew that this was a company I simply had to investigate.
Happy Family was
founded only a few years ago in New York City, when CEO & Founder Shazi Visram realized there
were no available homestyle options for parents to feed their children. She had a vision
to create a company that would provide even the busiest families, who didn’t
have time to prepare their own baby food, with the ability to give their children the best nutrition they could. Today, Happy Family is the leading
premium brand of baby and toddler meals in the US.
Happy Family
attributes their success to “[their] dedication to only creating the very best
products, [their] commitment to always doing what is right as a business, [and
to their] amazing team of brilliant colleagues and advisors.” After meeting
Anne and learning more about the company, I can’t help but agree.
The Happy Family promise is six fold:
- To provide optimal nutrition.
- To be safe in every way.
- To always be thinking green.
- To be socially responsible.
- To educate parents.
- To always support organic.
The best part?
For every package of healthy and nutritious baby food you buy, you and Happy
Family partner with Project Peanut Butter to feed malnourished children in
Malawi and Sierra Leone. So not only are you making healthy choices for your
own children, you are helping children around the world get the nutrition they
need.
Thank you, Happy
Family, for all that you do, and for being such an important and inspiring part
of the B Corp community.

ReplyDeleteSo cool! I make my own baby food, but not only will I supplement with Happy Family's products, but I'll recommend them to all the people I know who want to purchase good, healthy, yummy food for their little ones. Such a great vision, and the fact that they are making a difference on so many levels is wonderful.
ReplyDeleteHappy Family is such a great company that evolved from a true need in the marketplace. The vision and the mission are exemplary, and the fact that it has been able to achieve B Corp status is tremendous.
ReplyDeleteWhen I wasn't able to make Junior's baby food, I made a point of buying organic meals from companies like Happy Family. I'll gladly recommend them to other parents and caregivers!
ReplyDeleteWhat a cool company! I really have turned myself into an organically grown foodie. And I will definitely promote this company to my friends and family with young ones. B Corporations are truly the new standard, and I'm proud to be a part of one!

ReplyDeleteI love it when companies exist in the whole world and not in a vacuum. Paying attention to the world as well as profits ALWAYS makes me want to support a company. I'm so glad that we just got to learn about Happy Family foods!
ReplyDeleteIt's such as this blue turqouise round thing inside the middle payday loans and you wonder why your husband is coming back home early from work to eagerly leave her with a ride home.
