For several years, Rana DiOrio and her little pickles have sponsored Seng Vy, a child through Cambodian Children's Fund.
For six years, Cambodian Children's Fund has provided life-changing
education, nourishment, and healing to vulnerable children from some of
Cambodia's most destitute communities. You can read more about Seng Vy here.
But as things happen, recently Rana received this email:
I’d like to (say) thanks for being a good support to our sponsorship program and to sponsor Lim Seng Vy so far. It is sad to let you know about the update on Seng Vy and that recently, her mother has decided take Seng Vy and her siblings back from CCF. We now are still working on this case with her mother but see that the chance of having Seng Vy back would be very small. If in the case that Seng Vy won’t be back to CCF, is it ok with you if we suggest another child, Sieng Ly?
To which Rana replied:
My family is honored to support Sieng Ly. Thank you for the opportunity.
Gratefully,
Rana
And so this particular journey, with all its changes, continues; we take the bad with the good, and the sad moments with the happiness life can also bring. We all wish little Seng Vy the best future, and look forward to sharing stories about Sieng Ly as we get them. Until then, consider supporting the Cambodian Children's Fund with your donations. Please click here to make a donation or sponsor a child and thank you for being generous.

Have you and your family ever sponsored a needy child through a worthy organization? Please leave us a comment about the experience.

This is so heartbreaking. What a worthwhile endeavour, though. Having lived in the third world (really in it, in the trenches, being poor ourselves, though never destitute) I can testify first hand to the difference programs like this can make in the life of a child. A huge one.
ReplyDeleteIt puts a big lump in my throat to think about where this sweet child will go. Hard to lose touch with her. Sigh.
ReplyDeleteI certainly hope for the best for Seng Vy. Thank you for the update!
ReplyDeleteMy wish is that Seng Vy remembers all that she has learned through her experience with the Cambodian Children's Fund program and truly benefits from this throughout her lifetime. Rana and her family took the opportunity to help Seng Vy through their giving and support. They are now having another opportunity to help Sieng Ly learn new skills and receive education. Thank you for making a difference in these children's lives!
ReplyDeleteI remember all your stories over the years, K. So rich they were! I can never think of you as poor, even when food and water was tight. You always lived so much more deeply than people who don't think about what goes into their mouths each day.
ReplyDeleteA door has closed; now I'm praying for a very big window to open for these children.
ReplyDeleteThank you Dani. We never felt poor, not really, even when I was crocheting purses to feed the family. And so many times the kindness of others got us through, like a bag of rise appearing at the door the day after our flour ran out. No one should underestimate the effect their generosity can have on others.
ReplyDeleteI hope for a new path, another way to support Seng Vy. My prayers are with Seng Vy and her family. Seng Vy will forever remember you, Rana.
ReplyDeleteI believe we have a powerful universe, one that lines up for those who require support, giving what is needed. I am praying for Seng Vy's journey to be lined with angels, like you, Rana. And for you, Rane, that someday, you hear from Seng Vy.
