Kind Karma Giveaway!

by Cameron Crane

Carry out a random act of kindness, with no expectation of reward, safe in the knowledge that one day someone might do the same for you. ~ Princess Diana

This month the theme at Little Pickle Press is kindness. It is a value that rests at the core of who we are as a company, and something we strive to achieve every day through our philanthropic efforts and the messages we send in our children's media.
We believe that even the simplest acts of kindness can make a difference in our world. We also believe in kind karma, the idea that in one form or another, the person who takes an extra step to deliver kindness into the world will be rewarded.
The truth is that any act of kindness, whether it big or small, can make a monumental difference in somebody’s life. I am positive we have all experienced it: that moment when you are so pleasantly surprised by someone’s kindness that you can’t help but walk away smiling, inspired to be kind to the next person you come in contact with.

Kind karma can come in many forms. It is the person who helps a lost child in the grocery store find their mother. It is the person in line behind you at the coffee shop, who sees that you dropped $20, and decides to return it. The action that sets kind karma in motion does not have to be monumental, although it certainly can be.
Kind karma comes from an act of selflessness, one that is fueled only by the desire to have a positive impact on somebody’s life. It is an action that comes without expectation, but often bears significant reward. When you release positivity into the world, positive things will come your way.
This July, Little Pickle Press has decided to give this kind karma a head-start by offering a full set of our award-winning children's books to somebody who has gone above and beyond to carry out a random act of kindness. Share yours and be entered to win a wonderful collection of stories for your child's school, an organization of your choosing, or your own home library!

  1. What a wonderful idea! This is something that I encourage my children to do from when they are small, and I have seen the difference it makes in their lives as well as that of others. In Islaam, we are told that even a smile is an act of charity- and it can be an act of kindness as well. Surely we can all afford at least a smile, right?

  2. I see the results of Kind Karma on a near-daily basis. The doctor visit that was written off as a "thank you" because my husband played music on Christmas Day at the hospital. The tire repair that was dispatched in similar fashion because we played music for the mechanic's church. The many hundreds of get well cards, good wishes, and donations of time, goods, and services that have poured into our home since my husband's diagnosis. Many of these came from people that we don't even know; some are people who heard of a need and reached out, others were people who were touched in some way by one of our "random acts of kindness".

I believe that volunteering (and kindness in general) doesn't pay much, but the benefits package is huge. And yes, Khadijah, smiles are affordable! No worries about wrong sizes or colors, eh? :)

  3. The key to karma, that most people simply overlook, is not expecting a reward or anything at all in return. A good turn, should in and of itself be the reward, and anything on top of that should be a bonus.
